So, I'm shocked that Devin wasn't able to figure out who the band director is. I'm 99% positive that's Dave Faires. If I'm right, he's looking good. He had a lot of weight to pack around at one time. Good for him slimming down. Let me know for sure if that really is him?
Well, good news and bad news. The good news: We picked up two new investigators this past week, John and Tiffany Condon. They are the son and daughter in law of a less active member in the ward. Jason Condon (the less active dad) has been wanting to come back to church for a while and he wants his family to come too. John, who is 18, and Tiffany, who is 19, have been living with their parents for a while and are interested in coming to church. So, having a couple new investigators is pretty cool...
The bad news: We called Jason on Sunday to make sure he was going to be able to make it to church. He said he was going to make it and that the whole family was supposed to be coming as well. About two hours later, during our Ward Council meeting, we received a message from Jason where all we could make out was, "Once again, can't come to church... Had to kick my son out of the house... Family drama..." Noooooo! I called Jason back after the meetings and asked him if we could do anything for him. He mumbled a bunch of stuff that was totally incomprehensible. We have a meeting scheduled with them tonight, so we'll see what's going on and what we can do to help. Hopefully, our two new investigators haven't gone too far away and we can still teach them somehow. Geez...we're having to fight for people to teach right now that's for sure.
Conference is almost here! I am so excited for it! We have been mentioning it to as many people as we can lately. How amazing is it that we have the opportunity to hear from a living prophet, living apostles, and other leaders that have been called by God to direct His church on the earth at this time? It's great and definitely something that I shouldn't have taken for granted in the past. Serving a mission has really opened my eyes a lot more to the blessings that are available to us because of the Restoration of the Gospel. We of all people as members of the church have no reason to be unhappy. We have been given an understanding of the purpose of life which provides an eternal perspective for our time on earth. We have the Gospel!! I love it! Smile and let the world know that God has a plan, He is there for us, He loves us, and it's all good!! : D
That's about it for this week. You are all in my prayers and I am grateful for the prayers that you offer for me. They are needed and they are helping. Thank you so much. Be mighty!!

3 Weeks Left!
Hello everybody!
This week has been pretty sweet. First off, I am so stoked for General Conference! I can't wait. I don't think I've ever been this excited for it. I am so excited to hear from the Apostles, and Prophets, and everyone. It's gonna be awesome.
Ok-Kasey, sorry for not mentioning you in last week's email. The cookies were great. There is one Elder in my zone that loves pumpkin cookies, and so he ate most of them, but that's ok. haha. And just to let you know, Carl asks lots of girls on dates. If he likes you enough, he will ask you to marry him, and don't be surprised when he gives you a big, slobbery kiss. haha. Let me know how that goes when it happens. Chances are he'll try it sometime. haha. And don't worry if he says he doesn't get any letters from me, I have sent him 3 and he has sent me 3 so if he says he doesn't get them, he is just being silly. And, next time you see Chris Pope, give him my address, and tell him to write to me before I leave the MTC.
So last Tuesday, we went and did sealings at the temple. The couple that we did them with were funny. When I went to the altar the first time, Sis. Cuthbert was like, "Welcome to the family, honey." haha. It was pretty funny. Sealings are cool. I enjoyed them a lot. And as you know, after we were done, she asked E. Sieng and I what our mom's names were, and phone numbers, so she could call. haha. She is a pretty nice lady.
Umm, as far as the band director in that picture, I can't really tell, but it looks like Halversen back when he didn't have much hair. Is there any particular reason you wanted me to guess? Just wondering. and you should tell me who it is. haha.
So, guess what? One of the teachers here that teaches Laotian said that I will probably be learning Thai and Lao as well when I get to Boston, because they don't have Thai or Lao speaking missionaries in Boston. He went to Sacramento, and he learned Thai as well, and a little cambodian, but he told me that I would probably learn it enough to teach in! cool beans, huh? That will be interesting. I stay in the states, and end up learning 3 asian languages. Who would've guessed? I am pretty excited to see what really will happen out there. Only 3 more weeks and I will be in Boston! woohoo!
The other night at dinner, we were sitting at our table, and the sister in our district said that there is a sister from Cambodia in the room next to her in her residence hall. We saw her at dinner that night, and we all went over to her and talked to her for a while. It was really cool. she is going to San Bernadino CA, speaking English. She is super funny. I hope all of the Cambodians are as nice as she is. And as easy to understand. I don't know if she was talking slow or not, but I could understand everything she said. It was really cool. She told us that she is glad we came to talk to her, because she doesn't have anyone to talk to in Cambodian, because everyone in her district is English. she said "khnom sabbay cett" like a million times, which means "I happy heart" haha. It's just like saying you are super happy about something. It was a pretty cool experience.
Well, I think that's about it for this week. I still need a letter from dad and kurtis, and the haun's mill story, and if you wouldn't mind sending those athletic underwears that Justin didn't want, that would be appreciated greatly. Mine kinda ripped and it's somewhat uncomfortable. haha. thanks. Well, Hope you all have a great week! Oh, I would also like the rest of the families addresses if you have them yet. that'd be cool. Anywho, I am about out of time, so I gotta go now. Love you all!
Love,
Elder D. Hammer
P.S. I hear that the Jazz are tied for 2nd with the Nuggets?! that's pretty sweet. when do the playoffs start? Hopefully they'll do well this year. oh, and how did the NCAA end up? or is it even over? I don't know. Whatever. Thanks!

Can't Beat a NorCal Spring!
Hello to everybody!
First and foremost, thanks to Mom and Britnie for the packages. You should have seen the look on my comp's face when the lady at the post office handed me TWO packages yesterday! Ha! Take that new missionary who gets mail all the time! : ) He likes the goodies that came. Those oreo cheesecake things are awesome! Thank you a bunch!
Our week last week was pretty good. We actually doubled the number of lessons we taught from previous weeks. The standard in the mission is 20 lessons a week, but E. Garner and I have only been able to average about 5 since we got to the area. Basically those 5 lessons are our dinner appointments (so we've been teaching active members), which is good, but not the best situation. This last week though we had some lessons with a few less-actives. Great! And, one of the less-actives we have been meeting received the Aaronic Priesthood in church on Sunday. His name is Bro. Cadieux (Ca-jew) and he's been LA for a long time. A while ago he came into the Bishop's office and told him that he wanted to do everything he could to take his wife to the temple. So, he's been working on it. He's quit smoking and is coming to church every week. He asked E. Garner and I to stand in the circle when he was ordained and I thought that was pretty cool. Bro. and Sis. Cadieux are a little odd - Bro. Cadieux looks exactly like Jim Carey and is super animated/crazy half the time, but I love them and am so excited to see them progress.
Thanks for the pictures that you sent in the package. Devin, your nametag is crazy. I'm thinking about carrying that picture around with me and whenever somebody complains about something being too hard, I'll hold it up and say,"Just think, it could be worse." : ) By the way, Mom, I am getting Devin's emails that he is sending.
The 40 day fast is coming along. We were doing really great right at the beginning, but started to slack off again at the end of the week. We're back on track now and determined to do better. Repentance is a great thing, isn't it?
I think that is about it for now. I am counting down the days until General Conference! I can't wait! It is going to be awesome!
Thanks for all everyone does for me. Oh, I don't know if Claudia gets these emails or not, but tell Leah congrats for me. I didn't even know when she was getting married, crazy! Alright, I love all of you.
Stay Mighty!

Week 7!
Well, we are now 29 days from our departure date! Crazy. Our previous zone leaders left yesterday, and I think that really got me thinking about how soon I am actually going to get out there and start teaching. I can't wait, although, I am quite nervous about the whole language thing. I am still learning it pretty fast, and I have faith that I will learn it, but I have a feeling that the first few months in Boston are going to be interesting. haha. So I wrote down the things I wanted to say again so here we go.
Grandma S. Thanks for the jerky! It was delicious. I shared it with some of the Elders in my district and I have some that wanted me to ask how much you charge for a bag. haha. My supply diminished pretty quickly, so if you've got any left and want to make a few bucks.... haha.
Brittnie - thanks for the oreo things. Those were amazing. I shared those also, and one of the Elders (who loves oreos) wanted me to tell you to send about 30,000 more of them. So if that's not too big of a problem, it would be much appreciated. But yes those were extremely delicious.
Ok, so last week was finally the week we saw an Apostle. Elder Cook came and spoke to us about how we are now in an amazing time to serve because people are being humbled because of the economy. Basically it was all about missionaries, and how we are in one of the best times to serve right now. He also gave us a blessing, which I didn't know he could do, but it was awesome! The Spirit was so strong when he entered the room and throughout the whole meeting. Hopefully we'll get another Apostle tonight. That'd be sweet.
Also, last week on tuesday, when we were going to the temple, there was a worker standing on one corner of the street that told us about the other man on the other side of the street. He said that the man comes once a year from England, stands on the corner between the MTC and the Temple, and preaches against the Mormons, and has a table full of anti-literature. He told us to just ignore him, and have a great time at the temple. When the light turned green for us to walk across the street, it felt like we were going to battle, and it was really cool. He was looking straight at me, and so I smiled and walked right on past him. I think it made him pretty mad when like 6 of the cars that were stopped started honking and yelling "Go missionaries!" haha.
Now - this last saturday in the TRC, E. Sieng and I got to teach 3 Native Cambodian sisters and 2 former missionaries that speak it. So we had 6 people that we were teaching and they all spoke cambodian (except for the 4 month old baby) and it was really cool. For the first time in the TRC, I understood almost everything. usually I just let E. Sieng do most of the talking, but this time, I understood it, and I could put in my own input as well. It was super cool. One of the sisters that was there said something during the lesson, that I have no idea about what she said. She talked ridiculously fast, and I had to ask her 3 times to say it again before E. Sieng finally understood it, but I still don't know what she said. haha. It was fun though.
Well, that's too bad for BYU. They had a bracket up in the mailroom so I kinda knew what was going on. I saw that BYU was a 7 seed, and thought that was ridiculous. they should have been higher than that, right? but, yeah we got to see some of the Florida game, cause the workers in the mailroom had it on for a bit. haha. I only saw like 30 seconds of it. But anyway, that's pretty awesome that Kansas lost. That makes me happy. upsets are always good. haha.
Well, sorry this is pretty short, but I don't really have muhc else to say. Hope you all have a great week. I didn't get any letters from Dad, Kurtis, or Kadin, so I will be expecting those sometime this week. someone should tell the dang priests in our ward to write to me too. Lazy kids. haha. Oh- I still would like a copy of the Haun's mill story. thanks for sending all the other stuff I asked for though. Well, Have a great week. Love you all!

40 Days
Hello again to one and all! Hopefully everyone is having a great week. It's finally starting to warm up here and I am loving it! Right now it's in the 70's outside, everything is super green, and it's great! Nor Cal is beautiful. We drive around and I can't help but see God's hand in everything around me. I love it!
Okay, here's an update on the people we have been trying to work with. Jason Cardona is still completely lost. We have continued to try and track him down, but it hasn't worked. I called him for about the thousandth time the other day and just asked him to call back to let us know if he was even interested anymore in meeting. So far, nothing. It's a bummer. We are still hoping that somehow we can find him again and remind him of the Spirit he felt in our meetings. The old lady, Donna Thompson, is crazy. I called the nurse who operates the facility to ask her what Donna's deal was and she told me that she has a few mental disorders. For example, Donna told us, "everyone around here keeps telling me that my husband is dead, but I know he's up in the mountains teaching ski lessons." That guy must be in dang good shape to still be skiing in his 90's. In reality, her husband has been dead for quite a while now, but she won't accept that. All in all, we aren't going to be able to work with her. The missionaries in the Spirit World are going to have fun with her. : )
You're probably wondering what 40 days has to do with anything. Elder Garner and I have decided to do something called the 40 day purification activity. What that includes is going 40 days "fasting" from all the behaviors that poke at the Spirit. We started our activity on Sunday with an all day fast. Before we broke our fast, we knelt as a companionship and prayed asking Heavenly Father to inspire us to know what we should put on a list of things to fast from. Individually, we then continued by praying, reading the scriptures, and pondering to know what we should do. It was a really spiritual experience. I found a couple scriptures in D&C that I have decided to make my motto. They are D&C 123: 13 and 17. I want to "waste and wear out" my life in the service of God. This activity is going to really help our companionship and help me individually to have the Spirit so I can testify with power and authority. Today is day number 2 of 40. There is a long way to go, but it is worth it.
Well, that's it for now. Everyone have a great week. By the way, the emails have kind of slowed down a bit from home lately. Mom, I always looked forward to your quick, short emails that you used to send... ; )
Be mighty! Love you!

Week 6?!
Well, I know I say this every week, but I really don't understand how it is week 6 already! I guess people actually knew what they were talking about when they said it really flies by. haha. So, I just got a new email account and I didn't have any new emails in my inbox, so if you sent one this week, I didn't get it. sorry. my new address is whatever shows up when you get this. haha. well, I wrote down all of the things I wanted to say in my email so I can do it fast this week. First off, I am the new District Leader for our district. Pretty sweet huh? I was expecting it though, because before sunday when I was called, I had 2 dreams that I was the new district leader, so I guess that was just like a heads up to let me think about what I could do to prepare for it. But anyway, it's pretty cool. Except now I have no more free time on Sunday's because I am in meetings all day. just like dad! haha.
The language is really starting to come along pretty darn well for only learning it for 6 weeks. This last saturday was our first time teaching the lesson in Cambodian in the TRC ( I don't know if I told you what the TRC is, but it is once a week, we do a language task, then teach a lesson to a mock investigator). It was pretty sweet. Not perfect, obviously, but it was way better than I was expecting for the first time. From now on, all of our TRC's are in Cambodian. nuts. Our class goal this week is to speak 100% cambodian during class. It is so cool to be able to do that. of course, there are still tons of things we can't say, but we are all learning, so we usually understand each other pretty well. haha.
I have to tell you about the Fireside we had on sunday. We always sing 3 prelude hymns, and it is really nice to be able to do that. On sunday, I don't remember what the first two were, but the 3rd one was We'll Bring The World His Truth. It was so amazing. It was probably the loudest song we've sung here in the MTC because everyone loves that song, so we wanted to make it sound good. I was sitting on the 2nd row (which was way cool, by the way, cause I am usually clear up in the back) and the chorister had tears in her eyes the whole song, because the spirit was super strong. Then for our opening hymn, we sang Praise to the Man. Holy cow! It was like awesome music night, or something. Once again, everybody was singing extremely loud, and during the 3rd verse, the organist changed the way he played it, and it was so awesome, I started crying while I was singing! haha. I think that's the first time that's ever happened! It was so awesome. And then, the fireside was just unbelievable. Richard I Heaton spoke to us, and he works here at the MTC, so I wasn't too excited for it, but it was probably the best one we've had so far. We talked about investigators, and he had some of the previous-investigators-turned-missionaries come up and tell us their stories. It was sweet.
Ok, that's about the all the highlights from this week. Mom, sorry I didn't tell you earlier. My departure date is April 21. that still seems so far away! And by the time that gets here, I will be 1/12 done with my mission! wow. Before my mission, 2 years sounded like such a long time, but now that I am here, I can tell it is going to be over before I know it.
Alright, now you know I have to ask-- How was the MWC tourney? I heard some of the cafeteria workers asking each other if they had their brackets filled out, and I got all sad because I love March Madness, but that's ok because I am here, and that's where I'm supposed to be. But I still like to know.
One more thing, I haven't gotten any letters (besides 1 from each of you) from the family except from mom and , little siblings, I want to hear from you again. do it this week. thanks.
Real quick, I have 1 minute. Some things I would like to receive -- Copies of my call letter, my acceptance letter, and the notes Mom took at my setting apart. Also, Dad, if you wouldn't mind sending me a copy of that Haun's Mill story that would be great.
Ok I have to go now!
Love you all!

Temple Pictures
One of Justin's mission companions posted pictures of their temple trip with the Crane's on his facebook page. They look really happy!
Elder Monson (returned mission companion), Steve Crane, Samantha Crane, Elder Hammer

Elder Monson, Elder Hammer, Elder Hammer's companion Elder Garner

In this second picture you have Elder Monson who trained Elder Hammer who is training Elder Garner. Kind of neat. Elder Monson lives here in Orem and returned from his mission in Decamber. He was able to go back to be with the Crane's on their special day.

Hmmmm...
Well, honestly there isn't much to report on this week. Last week I believe I told you about a referral we received to go visit a lady who was interested in learning more about the Gospel. We were able to meet with her and we're not too sure what to do. She is super old and lives in an assisted-living care home. We tried to go back a couple days later to meet with her, but she wasn't really feeling up to it. We're not sure exactly what to think about her. With only one real visit to go off of, we aren't positive about how mentally capable Donna is. Some of the things she talked about were a little...weird. At least she was nice. It's going to take a few more visits to pin down what is going on.
I have a couple of questions for you. First off, have you heard about the missionaries in Chile? If I remember right, Matt Kennison is there right now? How is he doing? Is there anybody else there that I know of that I can't remember? Also, what's going on with Mr. Logan at OHS? Kasey, maybe you could fill me in on that. In Devin's email that Mom sent to me from last week (I think) he was talking about something crazy that Mr. Logan did?
Zone Conference is in two days and I am looking forward to it. My MTC comp, Elder Bailey, is the new AP and I am totally stoked for him! He is such a stud and I am thankful for the opportunity to serve with him as one of my leaders now. He is going to do a great job. There are a ton of awesome missionaries here and when I look around at some of them I can't help but be motivated to do better. I want to be more like them. There are so many things that I need to do better at. With the help of the Lord I know I'll be able to accomplish all that He wants me to, and as long as I put my trust in Him and exercise faith I will succeed.
That's it for this week. Thanks for everything. Mom, yes the package you sent a couple weeks ago did make it. That was a while ago, but thank you. Dad, I'm 98% positive now that Georgetown is outside of the mission. Thanks for the sports updates too. They are appreciated and no, it's not distracting. I love you all! Stay mighty!

BYU Whooped Utah!
Wow! it's already been five weeks as of tomorrow. Yesterday I had the epiphany that when I am in Boston, and have been there for as long as I will be here, I will be 1/4 done with my mission! that is crazy!
I don't have mom's letter in front of me, so I don't remember if there are any questions I am supposed to answer. oops haha. Last week for our devotional, we had Bishop Edgley from the presiding bishopric come and speak to us. It was really cool. Hopefully tonight is the night we get an apostle...
That's great to hear that BYU whooped Utah. I always love it when that happens. Hopefully they can win a few games in the tourney. haha.
Guess what? I got a letter from one of the elders in my mission. He said that I will be serving in one of two cities, neither of them are actually Boston. one is called Lynn, and is just outside Boston, the other is Lowell, which is ten miles from the New Hampshire border. He said that the apartment in lynn is one block from the ocean, so I am kinda hoping I get that one. That would be sweet. He also said that there are only 6 elders out of 150 in the Mission that are Cambodian speaking! that's incredible to me that the Lord would put that much trust in me. he also said that I am expected to speak fluently and translate when i get there. I think it might have been a spiritual slap in the face telling me to work a little harder. haha. It got me so excited when I opened it and started reading it. I can't wait to get out there and start sharing the Gospel with people. The last thing he said to me was that I am getting there just in time for the Cambodian New Year! sweet. that should be exciting.
Guess what else? Lastnight as a district, we went to the Refferal Center, which is a call center where we call to confirm that they received the dvd or book they ordered from us. I called one lady, but she wasn't home so I started talking to the guy who answered. I asked him if he had heard of the Church before and he asked if we were the Mormons. haha. I then started talking to him about the Book of Mormon. He was totally soaking everything up. It was awesome. He was asking me all kinds of questions, and I had answers to all of them. Then, he said that he remembered that there was a mormon church bout five miles from his home. (he lives in New Mexico) I told him that he could go this sunday and learn more about what we taught in church. He was very surprised that he didn't have to be a member to be able to go to church. He said that he would go, and told me that I could call him back after sunday to see how it went! AND he wants the missionaries to bring him a Book of Mormon! It was soooo cool! I was talking to him for like a half hour, and it was amazing. I was feeling the spirit, and I am pretty sure he was too, cause he was extremely interested in what I was saying. I can't wait to call him back and see how things went for him.
By the way, we should be getting a new district leader this week, because they only serve as DL for 5-6 weeks, and everyone in my district keeps telling me it is going to be me. I can't say whether or not I would want that to happen, but we'll see. I think it would be kinda cool, but there are lots of meetings on sundays... haha. plus then I would be in charge of getting the mail, and that is usually the most exciting part of the day..... except when you don't get any! haha. I saw Kirby on sunday and told him to make an announcement in the ward telling everyone to write to me, so you need to make sure he does that this week ;) haha.
Well, I am down to 2 minutes, so I should shoot Justin an email real quick, even though he doesn't get them from me.
Love you all and hope you have a great week!

Pics from Elder D
Devin sent us some pics last week. We recently got a scanner, so I can share them with you. Hope you enjoy. The captions are his own. Click on the picture to make it bigger.
This is the Cambodian flag. It's hanging in our classroom. The temple on it is called Angkorwat. It's Cambodia's pride and joy.
This is back behind the temple. It's pretty sweet!

This is my companion Elder Sieng during personal study on Saturday. I thought it was hilarious when I first saw it, then it started getting bigger and bigger until he finally woke up from us all laughing. It was awesome!

Me at the world map. That's Boston I'm pointing at, if you didn't know.

No explanation needed.
Again, no explanation needed.
This is my district and zone leaders. The blonde Elder on the bottom left got sent home for a year to clear some stuff up, but he promised us all he would be back. He is a stud.
Me 'n' the Zone Leaders. They are both going to Sacramento speaking Laotian.
The district. The brown Elder squatting in the middle is from Australia, going to Cambodia speaking Vietnamese. He has a sweet accent.
Me and my companion.
OH YEAH! Can't read it, but it looks awesome! Woohoo.
This is one of my favorite pictures so far that I've taken. Provo Temple on Sunday, 2-21-10

6 More Weeks
Well, I made it through another transfer and both Elder Garner and I will be staying in the Penn Valley Ward. There have been a few changes in the zone, but nothing that really affests us. Apparently there were three Elders from the MTC who ended up going home before getting out here, so they had to combine two of the wards in my zone and now only one set of missionaries are covering them both. That's too bad. It really makes things a lot easier when every ward has its own set of missionaries.
Other than transfers, not much is happening. We have started teaching a less active member, Allison Young, and her non-member husband sits in on the lessons although he plays Tiger Woods '10 on the PS3 the whole time. The first time we met with them a week or so ago the husband, Tracy, listened to us but didn't do much more than that. He did tell us that he's really open minded about everything and that he is totally supportive of his wife coming back to church though. He also said that his family is the most important part of his life. Hearing that as a missionary is like seeing flashing lights and hearing sirens and it's like the Spirit is yelling, "Go! Go! Go!" in your ears (figuratively speaking of course : ) So, in our most recent visit Elder Garner and I prepared a lesson all about families and how we can be together forever. We even reviewed the Proclamation to the World with Allison. Tracy listened the whole time. He still didn't participate, but his game was paused for almost the entire time we were there. We committed them to have family prayer and did it with them that night. It was great. Their youngest son even had the giggles a little bit during the prayer. Family prayer is the same no matter where you go. Awesome! Hopefully we gave Tracy something to think about and hopefully Allison's example will help him out.
It was a little nuts Sunday night when we went to visit our neighbor, Bob, and he had the closing ceremonies of the Olympics on TV. Bob isn't a member, nor does he want to be, but he does like us to stop by for a visit now and again. He's a pretty old guy and he likes missionaries, but every time we bring up a Gospel topic he dodges it somehow and tells us he's happy how he is. Anyways, we saw just a bit of what they were showing on the TV and it happened to be about Shaun White and how crazy he did. They showed all three of the runs he had on the Superpipe including his victory run where he nailed his new trick at the bottom of the pipe. That was crazy!! I was happy to see he got gold. I was also bummed to see the US lost to Canada in the Men's Hockey finals. I bet that was a heartbreaker. Too bad. Oh well, March Madness is just around the corner (the second best time of the year behind rivalry week in college football (of course that is only applicable to non-missionaries as well ; ) )) Go Cougars! Even out here I have to put up with crap about BYU from members and other missionaries. There is this one missionary in our zone who always seems to be in a bad mood. Then one day, he wore a shirt with the name of a certain team that will not be named in this email to our P-day activity and it just made sense. Of course he is unhappy! His favorite color is red!
Alright, I'm loving life right now. Of course things would be even better if we could get more investigators, but that's ok. We do have some leads that we are going to try this week including a lady we heard about today, actually, who is really interested in the church and even possibly wants to be baptized. She may not be in our ward boundaries, so we're going to check it out here in a few minutes. I'll let you know how it goes.
I hope everyone has a good week. Let me know how Devin is doing (still no emails...). I love you all!!

One Month
Hello all! As of tomorrow, I will have been here for a month! crazy! Only 23 more to go! haha I can't believe it has been that long already. Time happens weird here at the MTC. The days feel soooo long, but the weeks go by super fast. It's weird. Well, remember last week how I said that my fingers were all better? yeah that isn't true anymore. I don't know what is wrong with it (its only the middle one) but I thought it was better, so I decided to start playing volleyball. Where the joint crease is, it decided to crack open. It doesn't hurt very much, but the scar is all hard, and is is cracking open in 2 places. It is very annoying, as I can't bend or extend my finger all the way. I decided to start putting that ointment on it again and hopefully it will get better. oh well, it isn't hindering me from doing anything, but it does look pretty sick.
I didn't get a chance to tell you this last week, but guess who I saw at the temple last tuesday? LaVell Edwards! We did initiatories, and as we were leaving the changing room, he was walking in. He said hi to us, and I was like, "who was that? He looks really familiar.... Oh! it's LaVell Edwards!" It was pretty sweet. There were only two of us in the district that know who he is so we were both talking about it and noone else really cared. haha. It was pretty awesome.
By the way Mom, Happy Birthday on Saturday! Love you!
Umm, I got a package yesterday, and there was no name on it or card or anything with it, except a bunch of cookies. I think it is from Sis. Scadlock, but I am not sure. The return address is 506 E. 900 N. I am almost certain that is her address, but I just wanted to make sure before I send a thank you letter to her, so if you could check on that, that would be great. and I am not certain if it is 506 either, I don't have the package with me right now, but it is 50something.
Kasey- I heard about what happened with Mr Logan. HAHA that is so funny. Is he still your teacher or did he get fired? I am assuming he is not your teacher anymore. When I heard that story, I could not stop laughing. that's hilarious. I am laughing right now just thinking about it. I can't believe he did that.
I was super bummed when I heard that BYU lost to New Mexico again. that really stinks. Hopefully they can win the MWC tournament. And HOPEFULLY they can win a game in the NCAA tourney as well. We had a guy come and speak to us on Sunday, and he told us about the Gold Medal hockey match as well. That made me pretty upset as well, but that's ok. Silver is still good. What was the final medal count? No surprise that Shaun White won gold either. that's pretty sweet.
Mom, yes I would love to see that picture of Jack with his cone of shame. I can only imagine how much he is enjoying that. haha. that is pretty funny as well. That's too bad that he has all these problems though. stinks for him. haha.
I would also like it if I could get a list of family addresses so I can write to them. right now, the only one I have is Rob and Wendi's cause they are nice and wrote to me already...(hint hint to anyone who hasn't haha)
Well, I am already out of time. Jeez, that goes fast. I am excited for tonight's devotional because every tuesday we have a general authority come, and they have been getting more and more "famous" week after week. Last week was Elder Jensen from the Presidency of the Seventy. My bet is on an apostle tonight. haha. Well, I must go now. It was good hearing from you. Keep writing me letters!
Love,
Elder D. Hammer
P.S. Our teachers now speak 100% in cambodian so most of the time in class I just sit there and look confused. haha. I will have to write a letter with some cambodian writing sometime. love you!

Love,
Elder D. Hammer
P.S. Our teachers now speak 100% in cambodian so most of the time in class I just sit there and look confused. haha. I will have to write a letter with some cambodian writing sometime. love you!
